These
paintings represent apparitions of angels in Portugal.
The landscapes are usually ruins
and empty historical centres of cities frozen in time. Often the angels
are depicted in a
very suble way that makes them
almost invisible. Some of these paintings have angels that can only be
seen by the difference
of sheen on the surface, being
painted just with varnish.
Exhibited for the first time at the gallery "Bonjour
Montreal" in 2002 with
the support of the Portuguese
Embassy in Ottawa. Several interviews were broadcast by TV channel YTV, Radio
station Antena 2 and also
published by the press.
During the summers of 2009 and 2010, I painted more angel paintings at
the Convento de Cristo
de Tomar, Portugal (a UNESCO
world-heritage site) within an annual artist's in residence programme with other artists of the IRIDE group. Please check video underneath and also at the homepage.
